ASTORIA FEATURE WEDDING: Anna and Jon
Simple, Elegant, Intimate: Mission Accomplished! |
|
When Anna met Jon at work four years ago, she couldn’t have imagined that his mission would become to win her over. “When I found out he liked me after all these years, I was in shock!” exclaimed the bride.
It never crossed her mind that in a few years she would find Jon kneeling before her, proclaiming his love and asking to spend the rest of his life with her.
Anna said yes. And they began planning their wedding. “I wanted something simple and small,” explains Anna. They chose Astoria Banquets for the ceremony and reception — for single-stop, full-service — to keep things easy for themselves and their guests.
The bride wore a Mon Cheri taffeta gown, from the House of Brides, while the bridesmaids selected their own dresses in Anna’s preferred shade of red. The guys wore Ralph Lauren black tuxes with red vest and ties.
The ceremony took place under a crystal chandelier in the ballroom, as close friends and family encircled the couple. “Astoria Banquets did a great job decorating the hall,” shares Anna, “we actually didn’t have to buy extra flowers.”
The reception followed immediately. And the new Mr. and Mrs. Claude mingled with guests, enjoyed dinner and danced to the musical stylings of DJ MAJK, who mixed Polish and American music.
The couple’s menu of choice consisted of: Cream of mushroom soup, fresh garden salad, Champagne chicken, sliced grilled beef, mashed potatoes, green beans almandine and mostaccioli marinara. “It was delicious,” noted Anna.
The three-tiered wedding cake, adorned with red and white roses, alternated between chocolate and vanilla layers, and featured a chocolate mousse filling. “It was soooo good,” recalled Anna.
The groom, however, had a special request: An extra large, fresh-of-the-grill, juicy burger, with no fixings. So Astoria Banquets’ executive chef prepared Jon’s favorite meal on his wedding day.
The couple remarks, “Astoria Banquets was great. They were so accommodating . . . and made sure everything was right.”
“Here’s the most amazing thing that Astoria did for me,” reveals Anna. “After we arrived at the hall, the limo took off so quick I forgot my bouquet! We tried calling the driver to come back, but it was too late. I was in the bridal suite, so mad and devastated that I didn’t have my flowers [for the ceremony]; and there came Max, [the owner of Astoria] with a beautiful bouquet! I don’t know where he got it, but he saved the day and my memories. Thank you so much. |
